Important fix for IGEL AVD App – ‘Private Link for Azure Virtual Desktop’ and ‘occasional reconnect session hangs when using UDP’

Yesterday IGEL was alerted about a server-side agent update – that interfered with IGEL AVD Client. Customers using Azure Virtual Desktop Private Link (more info here) was affected causing disruption of connectivity. Rapid collaboration with Microsoft resulted in Microsoft updating the RDClientSDK during the night time (referencing that IGEL is in CET time zone). IGEL has received the fixed version and has now finished building the IGEL AVD App with the updated RDClientSDK for both IGEL OS 11 and IGEL OS 12.

As you might imagine, with this rapid fix, IGEL has not been able to QA test this app yet, so for the time being it is released as a private build/technical preview. To get the fix you will need to get in contact with your favorite IGEL Sales Engineer or the IGEL Support – read further in this blog to find the versions you should be requesting

Included in the fixed RDClientSDK, there is also a fix supposed for random reconnect session hangs when using RDP Shortpath (UDP traffic) – the fix is not validated yet, but we have high hopes that it should be address the random reconnect session hangs!

For all of you enjoying IGEL OS 12, and the individual applications, you have a much quicker path. You would need IGEL AVD App 1.2.1.rc1 or 1.3.0.tp5 (depending on the level you are currently using). IGEL AVD App 1.3.x enables Smart Card authentication, meaning that if this is what you are testing you should go for the 1.3.0.tp5, else you should stay on 1.2.1.rc1.
As you can see by the App versioning, none of the releases are GA releases, they are just addressing this specific issue and has not been quality tested (yet). They are not intended for production use. If you happen to install any of those OS12 App version, you should keep close attention for the upcoming GA releases and distribute those rapidly.
