This is a follow-up from https://virtualbrat.com/2026/03/31/introducing-igel-windows-app-the-new-app-combining-windows-365-and-azure-virtual-desktop-built-on-the-latest-sdk-code-from-microsoft/, describing additional client features and news!
There are some more additional features released with IGEL for Windows app that hasn’t been mentioned in its own blogs.
First out is Battery Redirection – your Windows 365 and Cloud PC hosts can interact with the power/battery components of your endpoint, giving you visibility of your device’s battery status withing the remote session. You will see percentage and charging status in the battery tray icon! Useful!!
Battery Redirection is enabled by default
Another feature that can be very useful is you can configure IGEL for Windows app, to after successful authentication, choose to retrieve published Desktops and Apps, only Desktops or only Apps – this gives you control if the client should always default to only Desktops, or IF/AND applications will be displayed to the user.
By limit the resources to be downloaded from the feeds can limit confusion for users when you want the client device to only show Desktops and let the backend to silo publish apps to the windows sessions.
By limiting the resource listing can lower the login time slightly.
IGEL and Microsoft has worked together to enhance the Microsoft Teams offloading and optimization. The new version of IGEL for Windows app includes multiple stack fixes and updates, plus includes a recent change to the H.264 encode streams that improves screen share experience, for both spectator and presenter.
Did you know that you can tweak the WebRTC components in the IGEL for Windows app? Take a look in the registry app->avd->avdX->options and look for webrtc*
